Diversity is Key to Cultivating a Strong Workforce and Client-Caregiver Relationships
By Chief Human Resources Officer Michelle Bonfilio
For the second consecutive year, Help at Home has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity in 2025. This prestigious recognition underscores our steadfast commitment to creating a workplace where inclusion, diversity and respect are not just principles we uphold but values we live by every day. At Help at Home, we believe that fostering an environment where employees feel supported, empowered and truly seen for who they are is essential to building a stronger, more connected organization, allowing us to serve more individuals who want to age in place at home, the preferred setting of care.
With our 50 years of home care industry expertise, we’re mindful of the significance of embracing diversity. We understand that cultivating a culture where employees feel valued boosts job satisfaction, reduces turnover and strengthens engagement. And, we know the combination of those things lead to a successful organization.
We’re proud to celebrate diverse workforces because they nurture a mix of perspectives, experiences and backgrounds, fostering a more dynamic and supportive environment. Employees are more likely to stay with a company that nurtures an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued — contributing to higher levels of job satisfaction.
The power of a diverse caregiver workforce
We understand the key to a successful caregiver-client match goes beyond just providing services—it’s about creating relationships through making the right client-caregiver connections. Our diverse care workforce is one of the most important factors in fostering these connections.
As of 2024, our care workforce consists of 84 percent females, with 64 percent identifying as a racial minority. By employing nearly 60,000 caregivers with a wide range of backgrounds, we’re able to create matches that truly meet the unique needs of our clients, ensuring that clients are paired with caregivers who not only meet their specific care plan but also connect with them on a deeper, cultural and holistic level.
With our intentional focus matching similar demographics, likes and geographies, we see a strong four-year average client/caregiver relationship. We’re proud of these long-term relationships which better serve the needs of our clients. Naturally stronger connections between caregiver and client also facilitate not only client satisfaction, but also caregiver satisfaction.
Shaping the future of care
Overall, we’re proud of the progress we’ve made and remain committed to supporting a culture of caring for the caregiver while ensuring clients thrive at home. Because together, we can shape a future where diversity isn’t just celebrated—it’s essential to delivering the highest quality of care.
Behind the recognition
According to Newsweek, the scoring process involved a detailed analysis of publicly available data, observations from HR professionals and an anonymous survey of a diverse labor force from businesses across the country. Respondents shared insights and experiences that revolved around business culture, working environments and additional views of their employer and other companies they are knowledgeable about.
The study included over 339,000 employee interviews and more than 4.8 million company reviews that were compiled over the last three years. This establishes America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2025 as one of the biggest independent employee studies in the nation.*
