Help at Home leader Katie Gallenstein Receives McKnight’s Women of Distinction Award

Katie is a registered nurse and a seasoned aging care professional with more than 15 years of expertise in home health and hospice – in both clinical and operational services. As a Help at Home Market Leader who is also a nurse, Katie has a valuable view of what caregiving quality and client satisfaction can mean. 

She was recently recognized by McKnight’s Home Care with a Women of Distinction Award. 

She began her career as a pediatric RN in a children’s hospital but was inspired to make the shift to home health by watching her mother’s career in home health.  She has had a remarkable first year as Help at Home’s Market Leader for Ohio, responsible for statewide operations across 13 branch locations and has navigated successfully through two recent Ohio acquisitions.  

“I really appreciate the experience of caring for people in their home environment,” she said. “It is an honor when clients invite us into their lives, to provide care where they feel most comfortable and safe.”  

Now, Katie said she wants to help solidify Help at Home as “the employer of choice” for people dedicated to caring for aging adults – especially the most vulnerable.  

“Help at Home is one of the few providers committed to growing their service of the Medicaid population – and other underserved populations – in Ohio,” Katie said. “We have a long-term commitment to high quality care for vulnerable adults. I want to remove barriers that seniors experience in getting care. Part of that involves educating seniors and others in need of care about the resources that are available.” 

Katie has been a board member for more than three years for the Ohio Council for Home Care and Hospice where she also currently sits on the Provider Support committee and previously served on the Compliance and Reimbursement Issues committee. She was a member of the inaugural class of the Certified Executive for Health Care at Home certification course and then went on to teach various sections of the class in 2020 and 2021. 

Katie also serves as a volunteer guardian for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, helping seniors in need navigate their healthcare decisions.
