Pennsylvania Care Coordinator Connector Role is Vital to Client-Caregiver Relationship
As a former caregiver in Pennsylvania, Kinya recently began a new role as a Help at Home Care Coordinator. Her caregiver background provided her with some great experience to coordinate care between clients and caregivers since she used to be one! Responsibilities in her new role include understanding her clients and their needs and connecting them with caregivers who are the right match. The goal is to help clients age in place in their homes as independently as possible.
“It feels great to know that I’m helping people live fulfilling lives in their own home,” Kinya said.
One of her first cases as a care coordinator involved an older woman who moved in with her son and daughter-in-law because she needed daily help. But, she needed to find help while the son and daughter-in-law were at work.
That’s where Kinya came in to match the right caregiver with her client. Soon after the match, Help at Home held a company picnic and Kinya witnessed that client and her caregiver relationship.
“They were like two peas in a pod,” she said. The client was teaching the caregiver how to crochet and said simply: “It’s like I have a best friend.”
Kinya left the picnic with a renewed sense of satisfaction in her work. “It made my heart so happy that I was able to make that connection. “It feels good to know we are helping people live healthier, independent lives,” Kinya said.
